Mumbai and WRI India have launched TheCityFix Labs: Accelerating Nature based Solutions, an initiative aimed at mainstreaming nature-based solutions for urban climate mitigation and adaptation. This lab aims to help realize the goals of Mumbai’s first-ever climate action plan and ambitions as a member of the Cities4Forests initiative.
The accelerator will identify urban nature-based solutions for water, green space and air quality management from across India and curate a selection of the best solutions to pilot in educational campuses and municipal schools in Mumbai. Selected solution providers will be mentored and financially supported to design and deliver a pilot in partnership with local government, community, and private stakeholders.
Mumbai’s leadership in demonstrating the benefits of urban nature-based solutions could influence an NBS-driven transformation for resilient cities.
